G2 Electric Scooter Real-World Test: Top Speed, Range and Riding Impressions

Reviewer: Simon Smith (Poland)
Video: BOYUEDA G2 GALE (about 21:11)

How fast is the BOYUEDA G2 in real-world conditions? And how far can its 52V 19Ah battery take you on a single charge? These are two of the most important questions when choosing a powerful single-motor electric scooter.

In this review, we look at an independent road test of the BOYUEDA G2 1600W electric scooter, covering its top speed, real-world range, suspension comfort, braking system and everyday riding experience. Rather than relying only on specifications, this article focuses on what happened during the actual test, including the strengths and limitations the reviewer discovered.

Quick verdict: The reviewer recorded a maximum display reading of 61 km/h, equivalent to approximately 57.5 km/h after applying his correction factor. The GPS reading was approximately 52 km/h. During the range test, the scooter switched off at a displayed distance of 66 km, equivalent to approximately 62 km after applying the same distance correction factor. Comfortable suspension, a modern design and hydraulic brakes were among its highlights, while its weight, throttle response and a brake hose issue encountered during testing deserve attention.

1. BOYUEDA G2 Specifications at a Glance

The BOYUEDA G2 introduces a more modern design to BOYUEDA's G-series electric scooters. Unlike the dual-motor G6, the G2 uses a single motor, making it a different option for riders who want strong performance without moving to a dual-motor configuration.

The manufacturer-listed configuration combines a 1600W motor with a 52V 19Ah battery, front and rear suspension, 10-inch road-oriented tyres and Logan hydraulic disc brakes.

  • Motor: 1600W single motor
  • Battery: 52V 19Ah, approximately 988Wh
  • Advertised range: Up to 60–70 km, depending on the product listing
  • Advertised maximum speed: Varies between product descriptions; check the current listing for the applicable configuration
  • Tyres: 10-inch road-oriented tyres
  • Suspension: Front and rear spring suspension with adjustment
  • Brakes: Logan hydraulic disc brakes
  • Display: Colour LCD with Bluetooth app connectivity
  • Weight: Approximately 31 kg according to the manufacturer's listed specification

These are manufacturer-listed specifications, not measurements from the road test. Actual performance depends on rider weight, terrain, temperature, battery condition and riding style.

2. Design and Build Quality

One of the first things the reviewer noticed was the G2's updated appearance. Its overall design looks more contemporary than some earlier BOYUEDA models, with a wide deck, neatly shaped mudguards and solid-looking aluminium swingarms.

The folding mechanism is another notable detail. Instead of the folding arrangement found on some larger BOYUEDA scooters, the G2 uses a different structure. The reviewer appreciated the overall construction and the substantial-looking metal connection between the deck and steering column.

The handlebar height can be adjusted to three positions, offering additional flexibility for riders with different preferences. The deck is covered with anti-slip material, while the footrests provide extra space for a relaxed riding position.

There is, however, one practical drawback: weight. The reviewer measured slightly more than 30 kg, while the manufacturer lists approximately 31 kg. This makes the G2 less convenient to carry up stairs or lift into a vehicle than a lighter commuter scooter.

3. Motor Performance and Throttle Response

The BOYUEDA G2 uses a single 1600W motor. During the test, the reviewer felt that it accelerated better than the 1000W scooters he had previously ridden, although the difference was not as dramatic as the acceleration delivered by some dual-motor models.

The scooter offers three speed gears and different riding profiles, including Eco, Comfort and Sport. This allows the rider to choose a more relaxed response or a sportier riding experience.

However, the reviewer also noticed a delay between operating the throttle and the scooter responding. This was most noticeable when starting from a standstill and was still present, to varying degrees, across the riding profiles.

During normal riding, the delay became less noticeable.

The throttle itself supports two operating styles: twisting the grip with the wrist or using the thumb control. This gives riders some flexibility in how they manage acceleration.

4. BOYUEDA G2 Top Speed Test: How Fast Did It Go?

The headline speed result was one of the most surprising parts of the review. The reviewer tested the G2 in its highest speed gear and recorded a peak reading of 61 km/h on the scooter's display.

However, the displayed speed was not treated as the final result. The reviewer checked the speedometer against an external reference and applied a correction factor of 0.944.

  • Maximum speed shown on the display: 61 km/h
  • Corrected speedometer result: Approximately 57.5 km/h
  • GPS result mentioned by the reviewer: Approximately 52 km/h

The two measurement methods did not produce the same result. For that reason, the fairest conclusion is that the test recorded a corrected speedometer figure of around 57.5 km/h, while the GPS reading was lower at approximately 52 km/h.

This is a result from one test ride, not a guaranteed maximum speed for every G2. Rider weight, wind, road conditions, battery charge and measurement accuracy can all affect the result.

What does this mean for buyers? The G2 demonstrated brisk performance for a single-motor scooter in this test. Buyers should distinguish between measured results and advertised specifications, and always comply with the speed limits and vehicle regulations applicable where they ride.

5. BOYUEDA G2 Real-World Range Test: Approximately 62 km

Maximum range is another key question for anyone considering the BOYUEDA G2. To test it, the reviewer reset the trip meter and rode at a relatively steady pace using cruise control, aiming for approximately 26–27 km/h on the display to account for the speedometer discrepancy.

The test included ordinary roads and a stony section. The reviewer selected the Comfort riding profile and monitored the displayed battery voltage and remaining battery indicators throughout the ride.

Range Test Results

Displayed Distance Battery Observations
10 km Approximately 55.0V; all battery bars still displayed
20 km Approximately 53.1V; one battery bar had disappeared
30 km Approximately 51.2V; two bars had disappeared
40 km Approximately 49.8V
50 km Approximately 48.4V; one green bar and the red reserve indicator remained
60 km Approximately 46.4V; the last green bar was intermittently disappearing
63 km The last green battery bar disappeared
66 km The scooter switched off while climbing a hill

At approximately 66 km on the displayed trip meter, the scooter switched off while the reviewer was climbing a hill. The reviewer subsequently applied the same 0.944 distance correction factor used in the speed test.

66 km × 0.944 = approximately 62.3 km.

The resulting corrected range was therefore around 62 km.

This is a useful real-world reference for the tested conditions, but it should not be interpreted as a universal range guarantee. The test was conducted at a relatively moderate cruising speed. Riding continuously at higher speeds, accelerating frequently, climbing hills or carrying additional weight may reduce the achievable distance.

The reviewer also noted that the battery indicator and automatic shutdown behaviour were not entirely predictable near the end of the test. This is worth keeping in mind when planning longer rides: leave a reserve rather than relying on the last battery bar.

6. Suspension and Riding Comfort

Suspension was one of the strongest aspects of the BOYUEDA G2 in the review. The scooter uses front and rear spring suspension, and the reviewer described the ride as comfortable, with the springs absorbing bumps effectively.

During the range test, the scooter crossed a stony road section. The reviewer reported that the suspension worked well over the uneven surface and did not notice obvious knocking noises during that part of the ride.

The riding position also received positive feedback. The handlebar shape, deck width and adjustable handlebar height contributed to a comfortable overall setup.

Although the G2 can handle some uneven surfaces, it is primarily configured with road-oriented tyres and a single motor. The reviewer attempted to ride through loose, dry sand but found that the scooter could not maintain forward progress in the soft section.

This distinction matters: the G2 can cope with occasional rough patches, gravel and uneven roads, but it should not be confused with a dedicated off-road scooter designed for loose sand or demanding trails.

7. Hydraulic Brakes: An Important Test Observation

The BOYUEDA G2 is equipped with Logan hydraulic disc brakes, a feature the reviewer considered a positive inclusion for a scooter in this price category.

However, the test also revealed an issue with the front brake. During the test period, the reviewer reported losing front braking function after brake fluid leaked from the front brake hose connection. He suspected a defect in the hose assembly and contacted BOYUEDA about the problem. According to the review, a replacement brake hose was to be supplied.

This incident concerns the specific test unit and does not establish that every BOYUEDA G2 has the same problem. Nevertheless, it is an important detail to disclose when presenting the review honestly.

Safety reminder: Always inspect the brakes before riding. If you notice leaking fluid, reduced braking performance or an unusual brake lever feel, stop riding and arrange a proper inspection and repair before using the scooter again.

8. Display, Bluetooth App and Lighting

The G2 features a colour LCD display that presents useful riding information, including speed, trip distance, battery voltage and real-time current consumption. The reviewer appreciated being able to check these details directly on the dashboard.

Bluetooth app connectivity provides access to additional settings. Cruise control, for example, must be enabled through the app according to the reviewer. The display brightness was considered adequate, although the reviewer felt that it could be brighter in daylight.

The scooter also includes several lighting features:

  • Dual LED front headlight
  • Rear light
  • Turn signals at the front and rear
  • RGB deck lighting

The front headlight received positive feedback for its illumination. The RGB deck lighting also gives the scooter a distinctive appearance at night, although the reviewer noted that the lighting could be switched off but individual colours or lighting modes could not be selected.

The package also includes useful accessories, such as a handlebar bag, phone holder, pump, combination cable lock and hex keys. The supplied 3A charger was another detail the reviewer appreciated.

10. Is the BOYUEDA G2 Worth Considering?

Based on this particular review, the BOYUEDA G2 makes a strong case for riders looking for a single-motor electric scooter with a modern design, comfortable suspension and useful everyday technology.

The corrected range of approximately 62 km is particularly noteworthy, while the top-speed test suggests that the scooter can deliver brisk performance under the conditions tested. The suspension and overall riding position also received positive feedback.

It is not without compromises. At around 31 kg, it is not especially light, and the throttle delay may matter to riders who prioritise immediate acceleration response. The brake hose incident also highlights why proper pre-ride checks and responsive after-sales support matter.

Overall, the reviewer gave the G2 a positive recommendation, praising its design, performance, range and inclusion of hydraulic brakes. For buyers comparing single-motor scooters, the G2 is worth considering if comfort, range and a modern feature set are high on their list.
